Backerkit, Pre-Order Website, & Distributing Digital Add-Ons

Hello Everyone,

We have some more updates for you:

Backerkit

The folks over at Backerkit are currently reviewing our set up with them.  Once they are finished we will be doing what is called a "smoke test" to see how our Backerkit campaign page performs and to find any potential problems.

If you would like to be part of the "smoke test" please send us a message here on Kickstarter and we'll add you to that list.

Once the "smoke test" is complete we'll send out an additional survey through Backerkit.  With that survey you will be able to purchase the add-ons we offered during our Kickstarter.  For those who already purchased add-ons you can verify the selection in that survey.

We decided to add one of our stretch goal add-ons to the Backerkit page, the 24"x36" poster of the cover art for A Prince's Errand.  If you ordered the 11"x17" poster you can upgrade to the 24"x36" and pay for the upgrade via Backerkit.

Digital add-ons and Digital Bonus content will be available for distribution via Backerkit.  You'll simply download the files directly from Backerkit.

Pre-Order Website through Backerkit

A pre-order page through Backerkit is now up and running.  You can view that page here: https://a-princes-errand.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders/174788 

Those of you who weren't able to participate in the Kickstarter can purchase copies of A Prince's Errand and the add-ons offered during the Kickstarter through this pre-order store.  Items on the store are priced individually, but you can bundle multiple items together to create your own package similar to the rewards tiers offered during the Kickstarter.

For instance, if you want everything that came in the Hardcover tier simply purchase: the Hardcover edition ($32 on the Pre-Order store), the digital poster ($3 on the Pre-Order store), and e-Book edition ($7 on the Pre-Order store).  Total price, $42 + $6 shipping.

Distributing Digital Add-Ons

Last week we manually sent out the digital add-ons for our older publications (The Dragons' Legacy, The Elven Secret, The Mages' Agenda, The Last Barsionist, Mysterious Assassin, Return of the Elves, A Forgotten Hero, Guardians of Kalda, and the bundle including all those novels/short-stories).  We intended to distribute those items via Backerkit but the process was more complicated than expected, so we decided to send the files individually.

Everyone who added those items during the Kickstarter should have received the items via an email from Robert's personal email.  Those who ordered bundles should have received two emails.  If you did not receive those add-ons AND you purchased them during the Kickstarter, please contact us and we will send those files to you as soon as possible.

If you are interested in obtaining those items you can purchase them through the upcoming Backerkit Survey or the Pre-Order store.

April 2019 Updates

Hello Everyone,

Here's an update on our progress for, A Prince's Errand.

Editing

The last round of revisions and rewrites was finished last night, and now it's time to start line-editing.  Our editing schedule is a little behind, but only by a week or so.

Interior Illustrations

Our artist is finishing up the cover for our next book and then he'll be working on the interior illustrations for the chapter headings sometime by the end of the month.  In the mean time, we're still hammering out a final design and that should be ready in a week.

Misc.

The print files for the posters and bookmarks are ready and we will be sending them to our printer sometime this week.

We're still working on the text for the trading cards, but the layout and design for the cards are finished.

Backerkit

We're still in the process of setting up the Backerkit page, and hopefully that will be up and running within a week.

Backerkit will enable you to:

• Pre-order additional physical copies of the book in both paperback and hardcover.
• Purchase additional Add-On items.
• Directly download digital-files once they are ready.

Reward Surveys

If you haven't filled out your reward survey, please do so as soon as possible.  We just received the last of the surveys with add-ons, so we'll be fulfilling those add-on items in the coming weeks.

Backer Surveys, Backerkit, and More

Thanks again to all you backers who helped us reach our funding goal!  We have a few housekeeping items to address as we move forward with our Kickstarter.

Backer Surveys

We're working on completing the backer surveys and should be sending them out sometime this week.  Since they can only be sent out once, we're reviewing them carefully to make sure we're not leaving out any pertinent questions.

Backerkit

Our Backerkit page is also under construction.  With Backerkit you'll be able to purchase additional add-ons if you were not able to purchase them through the Kickstarter.

We will also be putting up a pre-order page through Backerkit for anyone who wasn't able to contribute to the Kickstarter.  More on that to come once we finish putting together our Backerkit page.

Digital Add-ons

The e-Book add-ons will be available for distribution once we get the surveys sent out and receive your email addresses.  Those e-book add-ons include the following: The Dragons' Legacy, The Elven Secret, The Mages Agenda, The Last Barsionist, Mysterious Assassin, Return of the Elves, A Forgotten Hero, Guardians of Kalda, and the bundle containing all those e-books.

We're working on making those e-books available to download through Backerkit as well.

Bonus: Free e-Book, A Thief's Way

You still have time to subscribe to our mailing list to receive your free copy of our companion short-story, A Thief's Way.  Simply visit http://www.legendsofkalda.com/kickstarter.html and submit your name and email address in the text box beside the YouTube video.

The deadline to receive this bonus is June 1st, 2019.  We intend to send out A Thief's Way at the same time as the e-Book version of A Prince's Errand.

Future Updates

We intend to keep you guys updated from now till fulfillment, posting updates as we reach various milestones in the project.

Here is our projected timeline.  Not everything is set in stone, but these are the dates we are aiming for.

• March 6th, send backer surveys & finish Backerkit page.
• March 6th-11th, send out e-Book add-ons (The Dragons' Legacy, The Elven Secret, The Mages Agenda, The Last Barsionist, Mysterious Assassin, Return of the Elves, A Forgotten Hero, Guardians of Kalda).
• March 18th-25th, prepare and print bookmarks and posters.
• March 29th, implement first batch of edits.
• April 1st, begins second round of editing.
• Early April, Kerem Beyit to start working on interior illustrations.
• Early-Mid May, receive interior illustrations.
• Early-Mid June, implement final edits.
• Mid-Late June, final formatting process for A Prince's Errand in e-Book and print.
• Late June-Early July, print test copies of A Prince's Errand.  Review and test e-Book files.  Review printed test copies and fix any errors.
• Early-Mid July print the final version.  (This process can take up to 2 weeks, depending on our printer).
• Mid July, ship physical copies of A Prince's Errand with the various physical bonuses, ship physical add-ons, and email/enable download of the e-Book edition of A Prince's Errand.

Much of this timeline is dependent upon our editor and the time required to implement her edits may vary from our projections.  Once we have the final manuscript in hand we know we can have the book ready to ship within 4 and a half weeks (2 weeks turn-around to receive proofs from our printer, a day or two to fix errors, then another 2 weeks to receive the final printed copies).

We are also waiting on our illustrator to begin on the interior art, as he is currently finishing the cover art for The Dark Necromancer (the sequel to A Prince's Errand), and some other projects not related to us.

Well, we stayed on target...

As of 6:00 PM MST the Kickstarter for A Prince's Errand is fully funded!
